The Prescott Badgers are taking a road trip to take on the ALA - Gilbert North Eagles at 3:45 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
If Prescott beats ALA - Gilbert North with ten runs on Saturday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. Everything went the Badgers' way against Mingus on Wednesday as they made off with a 10-3 victory. The win continues a trend for the Badgers in their matchups with the Marauders: they've now won eight in a row.
The team relied heavily on Cooper Magnett, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Tobin, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Prescott kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, ALA - Gilbert North entered their tilt with Combs on Wednesday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They blew past the Coyotes 15-1.
Matix Dunn was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Dunn was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Bryson Landon was a standout: he went 3-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Zack Genet also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
ALA - Gilbert North's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-9. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Prescott, their record is now 15-5.
Saturday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Prescott hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .389. However, it's not like ALA - Gilbert North struggles in that department as they've averaged .354. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
