The Redbank Valley Bulldogs stacked a ninth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 69-47 margin over Union. Given Redbank Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 102nd, while Union is ranked 392nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Breckin Minich was his usual excellent self, scoring 25 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kieran Fricko, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Union's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Trey Fleming, who scored 15 points along with two steals. Fleming has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. Dawson Camper was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.
Redbank Valley pushed their record up to 17-2 with that win, which was their seventh straight on the road. As for Union, their loss dropped their record down to 12-9.
Redbank Valley will be playing in front of their home fans against Clarion Area at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Redbank Valley knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 19 games -- so hopefully Clarion Area likes a good challenge. As for Union, they will head out on the road to square off against Karns City at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Karns City will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Union surely won't give up without a fight.
