Summertown is 10-0 against Collinwood since January of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Summertown Eagles will be playing at home against the Collinwood Trojans at 7:30 p.m. Summertown knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five contests -- so hopefully Collinwood likes a good challenge.
Summertown pushed their score all the way to 63 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 72-63 hit to the loss column at the hands of Wayne County.
Summertown's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Kurt Burleson, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds, and Grayson Burlseon who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 10 rebounds. Burleson scored a full 36.5% of Summertown's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Bennett, who scored 12 points along with 3 steals.
Meanwhile, Collinwood pushed their score all the way to 64 last Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Cherokee by a score of 67-64.
Their wins bumped Summertown to 4-2 and Wayne County to 4-1.
Everything came up roses for Summertown against Collinwood in their previous matchup back in December of 2022 as the team secured a 77-40 win. Will Summertown repeat their success, or does Collinwood have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
