After losing to the Monterey Wildcats the last time they met, the Sequatchie County Indians decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Sequatchie County came out on top against the Wildcats by a score of 49-40 on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back wins for Sequatchie County.
Leading Sequatchie County to victory were Ryker Terry and Beckham Mckendrick. Terry scored 15 points along with eight rebounds, while Mckendrick scored 20 points along with six rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which Mckendrick has scored at least a third of Sequatchie County's points.
Monterey's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Collin Fowler, who scored 11 points. Aiden Roberson-Barber was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with three steals.
Sequatchie County's win bumped their record up to 12-10. As for Monterey, they are on a 15-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-23.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sequatchie County will take on the Patriots at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Tennessee (Chattanooga School for the Arts & Sciences is ranked 223rd, while the Indians are ranked 243rd). As for Monterey, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Dragons at 6:00 p.m.
