Basketball Recap: Columbus Piles Up the Points Against New London

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Columbus). They claimed a resounding 63-30 win over the New London Tigers. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 20 points or more this season.

The victory was the third in a row for Columbus, bringing their record for this year to 7-1. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.7 points per game. As for New London, they are on a 20-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Columbus won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Wapello at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Columbus has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for New London, they and Mediapolis will face off at 6:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Mediapolis knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully New London likes a good challenge.
