The Buckeye Bucks lost against the Holy Name Green Wave back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Buckeye lost to Holy Name at home by a decisive 60-42 margin.
Despite the loss, Buckeye had strong showings from Kwynn Czerwony, who scored nine points along with 13 rebounds and two blocks, and Ruby Hudak, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hudak has scored all season.
Holy Name found their leader in underclassman Claire Coljohn, who scored 20 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Coljohn hasn't dropped below two steals for ten straight games. Layla Rudolph was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Buckeye's defeat was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-12. As for Holy Name, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Buckeye will challenge Garfield Community Learning Center at 1:30 p.m. on Monday. Garfield Community Learning Center has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Holy Name, they will head out on the road to take on Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
