The Hanover Bears will take on the ConVal Cougars at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Hanover is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
Hanover came out on top against Coe-Brown Academy on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run seventh inning. Hanover took their match against Coe-Brown Academy 6-2. Hanover hasn't had any issues with Coe-Brown Academy recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Wyatt Daigle made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jack Lobb, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Jorgen Drent, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, ConVal never let their opponents score on Friday. They put the hurt on Sanborn Regional with a sharp 11-0 victory.
Like Hanover, ConVal also got a great game from a two-way player: Isaac Clough. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over six innings pitched. Clough was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, ConVal got a big performance out of Anthony Gutwein, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs. Grayson Yergeau was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Hanover's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for ConVal, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
Hanover took their win against ConVal in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 10-1 score. Will the Bears repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
