The Cairo Pilots's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fourth straight loss. The match between Cairo and Oak Ridge wasn't particularly close, with Cairo falling 71-52.
When it comes to explaining why Cairo lost, one person who can't be blamed is Aaliyah Wilkerson. Despite the final result, she scored 20 points. Wilkerson scored a full 38.5% of Cairo's points, the ninth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Shanti Taylor, who scored 13 points.
Cairo's loss dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Oak Ridge, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Scott County Central the next time they take the court. Cairo will head out to face Scott County Central on Wednesday, while Oak Ridge will head out to face them at TBD on January 15, 2024.
