Basketball Recap: Angel Ochoa's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Victory Christian Academy over St. Monica

Victory Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They received a blow as they fell 60-44 to the St. Monica Mariners. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 544th, while the Mariners are ranked 136th).

Victory Christian Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Angel Ochoa, who went 6 for 12 on his way to 15 points and three steals. Ochoa is crushing it when it comes to points: he's scored at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. Troy Tominna was another key player, putting up nine points and five rebounds.

Victory Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for St. Monica, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-4.

Victory Christian Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 65-62 win against Del Norte on the 27th. As for St. Monica, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 57-35 victory against Sacramento on the 27th.
