The Trinity Wolves will square off against the Redding Christian Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
In Friday's Canine Competition, Trinity didn't have enough. They fell 28-20 to Fall River on Friday.
Despite their defeat, Trinity saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Carver Dresselhaus, who rushed for 90 yards and one score, and also threw for 70 yards and a pair of TDs, was perhaps the best of all. Dresselhaus was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 54 yards.
Meanwhile, Redding Christian strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 60-6 win over Modoc. Considering the Lions have won four games by more than 19 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Redding Christian's win came from a few key players Trinity will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Levi Putnam, who rushed for 159 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 12 carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Wyatt Shaw, who threw for 222 yards and four TDs while completing 80% of his passes.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Redding Christian was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 262 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2024.
Redding Christian didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut David LaBabera. He is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last four games he's played. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Trinity's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Redding Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 5-0.
Trinity might still be hurting after the 40-18 defeat they got from Redding Christian in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Shaw, who threw for 271 yards and four touchdowns while completing 94.4% of his passes, and also punched in one score on the ground. Now that the Wolves know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
