4A District 2 recap October 22, 2013
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Santa Fe, who defeated 50th ranked Los Alamos, 28-9. Mario Holladay ran for 149 yards in the win.
Espanola Valley lost to Capital 49-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
The Demons' offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Holladay contributed 149 yards.
Holladay was a passing and rushing force as Santa Fe bested the Hilltoppers.
Holladay was the most successful running back in 4A District 2 this week. Teammate Rayes Montano added to the ground attack by rushing for 95 yards.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Los Alamos' Brice Van Etten and Tristen Hill have proven to be a lethal combination. 5-9 quarterback Van Etten has thrown for 311 yards this season, while Hill has 8 catches for 142 yards. Montano from Ray Holladay's team leads the league in rushing with 470 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Bernalillo takes on the Jaguars. At the moment, the Spartans are in fifth, while Capital is in second.
The Demons made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 11,097 from 12,073. The improvement was largely due to a 28-9 victory over Garett Williams' team last week.
