The Arkansas Razorbacks''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Hot Springs, falling 50-14. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Arkansas in their matchups with Hot Springs: they've now lost four in a row.
Several Razorbacks players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Zephaniah Black, who rushed for 87 yards and a touchdown. Black was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 58 yards.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hot Springs to victory, but perhaps none more so than Matthew Contreras, who threw for 427 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 14.7 yards per attempt. Another player making a difference was Justin Washington, who picked up 139 receiving yards and four touchdowns.
Hot Springs' defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB 14 times. It was a group effort, with five guys contributing.
Arkansas' loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 4-4. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 9.3 points per game. As for Hot Springs, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-1.
Arkansas will look to defend their home field on Friday against Hope at 7:00 p.m. Hope is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak. As for Hot Springs, they will head out on the road to face off against Camden Fairview at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Camden Fairview is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
