The West Branch Warriors are taking a road trip to challenge the Poland Seminary Bulldogs at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. West Branch is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.
On Thursday, West Branch made easy work of Carrollton and carried off an 8-2 victory. The result was nothing new for West Branch, who have now won five contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Ellie Tucker was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Libbie Davis, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Mati Hawk was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Poland Seminary fell victim to McDonald and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They fell just short of the Blue Devils by a score of 2-0. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Bulldogs' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Lillian McDonald spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up nine Ks.
At the plate, Poland Seminary saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Leanna Boccieri, who went 1-for-3 with one double.
West Branch pushed their record up to 9-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Poland Seminary, they now have a losing record of 5-6.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. West Branch hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .355. However, it's not like Poland Seminary struggles in that department as they've averaged .396. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
West Branch suffered a grim 8-1 defeat to Poland Seminary in their previous matchup back in May of 2022. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
