The South Point Pointers will head out to face off against the Valley Indians at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
On Tuesday, South Point made easy work of Minford and carried off a 12-1 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Pointers.
Kota Copley was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and not a single walk). Copley was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.
In other batting news, South Point let Kaylee Stidham and Adyson Copley run wild. Stidham got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Copley went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. Kyleigh Castle was another key player, going 2-for-5 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double.
South Point was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Minford only posted a batting average of .240.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Valley, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. Everything went their way against Huntington on Wednesday as they made off with a 17-3 victory.
Valley now has a winning record of 2-1. As for South Point, their record is now 2-0.
South Point was able to grind out a solid win over Valley when the teams last played back in March of 2025, winning 12-8. Will the Pointers repeat their success, or do the Indians have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
