Seminole will face off against Ysleta on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Seminole sitting on seven straight wins and Ysleta on 15.
Seminole is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They won by a run and slipped past Canyon 4-3. That's two games straight that the Indians have won by just one run.
Rowin Donaldson made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs.
Donaldson wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Stephen Davis, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases Davis has posted since back in March.
Meanwhile, Ysleta made easy work of San Elizario on Friday and carried off a 14-2 victory. The Indians might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 18 games by six runs or more this season.
Ysleta also got a great performance from Adry Botello as he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits.
At the plate, Angel Flores and Octavio Sanchez did most of the damage at the plate: Flores got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Sanchez went 1-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Ysleta is 9-2 when Flores posts two or more runs, but 9-11 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Santiago Osorio, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs.
Ysleta always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .647. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .545 or higher in five consecutive contests.
Ysleta pushed their record up to 18-13 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.1 runs over those games. As for Seminole, their record now sits at 24-7.
