Basketball Recap: Faith Christian Drops Season-High Score on Community Christian

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Faith Christian). They really took it to the Community Christian Lions for the full four quarters, racking up a 60-29 victory. The Saints pushed the score to 44-19 by the end of the third, a deficit the Lions had little chance of recovering from.

Leading Faith Christian to victory were Yulissa DelaRosa and Alexa Tomlison. DelaRosa went 11 for 20 on her way to 23 points in addition to eight steals and six rebounds, while Tomlison dropped a double-double on 20 points and 16 boards. DelaRosa has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 23 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Destiny Martinez, who posted eight points and ten rebounds.

Faith Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 25 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 20 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Community Christian's loss on Friday came despite strong showings from Makayla Nguyen and Lacey Cupp. Nguyen went 5 of 10 en route to 14 points and five boards, while Cupp almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds. That was a full 48.3% of Community Christian's points, marking the sixth time in a row she's scored more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Mylee Wright, who earned six points and six boards.

Faith Christian's win bumped their record up to 12-3. As for Community Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-15.

Coming up, Faith Christian will challenge Humble Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Community Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
