Baseball Recap: West Johnston Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Victory

West Johnston extended their winning streak to five on Monday, bumping their season record up to 16-6 in the process. Everything went their way against the Fike Demons as they made off with a 9-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won seven matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

As for Fike, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season. That's two games in a row now that they have lost by exactly eight runs.

For Fike's part, they got a good showing from Lawson Boykin, who tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits Boykin has allowed since back in March.

At the plate, Fike saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Charlie Maddrey, who went 1-for-2 with one run.
