Basketball Game Preview: Boulder Creek Jaguars vs. O'Connor Eagles

Boulder Creek has gone 8-2 against O'Connor recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Boulder Creek Jaguars will challenge the O'Connor Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Boulder Creek knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 11 matchups -- so hopefully O'Connor likes a good challenge.

Boulder Creek is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Arizona's top teams: Liberty, who was ranked 13th at the time (Boulder Creek was ranked third). Boulder Creek fell 84-75 to Liberty on Tuesday. The Jaguars' loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Despite the defeat, Boulder Creek got top-tier performance from Andrew Bhesania, who almost dropped a double-double on 30 points and nine rebounds. Bhesania has been hot, having posted eight or more boards the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Mick Riordan, who went 7 for 12 en route to 20 points.

Even though they lost, Boulder Creek was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Liberty only racked up 11 assists.

Meanwhile, O'Connor posted their biggest win since December 13, 2024 on Friday. They breezed by Mountain Ridge to the tune of 87-58. The Eagles pushed the score to 77-43 by the end of the third, a deficit the Mountain Lions cut but never quite recovered from.

The victory (which was O'Connor's third in a row) raised their record to 14-7. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.0 points per game. As for Boulder Creek, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 16-5.

Everything went Boulder Creek's way against O'Connor in their previous matchup two weeks ago, as Boulder Creek made off with a 76-55 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Boulder Creek since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
