The Harrisburg Cougars fought the good fight in their overtime match against the State College Little Lions on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 64-55 to the Little Lions. While losing is never fun, Harrisburg can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 374th, while State College is ranked 178th).
Aidan Angus was a one-man wrecking crew for State College as he scored 23 points. That's the first time this season that Angus scored 15 or more points. Reed Melvin was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Harrisburg has been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season. As for State College, their victory bumped their record up to 7-8.
Harrisburg and Central Dauphin will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Central Dauphin knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully Harrisburg likes a good challenge. As for State College, they will head out on the road to square off against Carlisle at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Carlisle will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive.
