Corrin Green and Christian Galasso did some serious damage despite the final result: Green went 4-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Galasso went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. Green is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Cameron Craft was another key player, getting on base in four of his six plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Socastee sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 victory over Conway on Monday.
Logan Cook was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Cook wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jace Crowther, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI. Another was Jimmy Cocca, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Waccamaw's loss dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Socastee, their record is now 4-16.
Socastee's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Waccamaw has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Socastee, though, as they've been averaging only 3.5 strikeouts. Will Waccamaw keep running through batters, or will the Braves buck the trend?
Waccamaw was able to grind out a solid win over Socastee in their previous meeting back in March, winning 5-2. Do the Warriors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Braves turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
