Mount Airy had won four straight games and Taeshon Martin did his part to make it five on Friday. The Granite Bears claimed a resounding 62-10 win over the Surry Central Golden Eagles for which the team can thank Martin, who rushed for 179 yards and two scores on only nine carries. He is becoming a predictor of Mount Airy's success: when he posts at least 80 rushing yards the team is undefeated (and 1-2 when he doesn't).
One reason for the win was Mount Airy's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for seven sacks. The heavy lifting was done by DJ Joyce and Ethan Clabo, who racked up five sacks between them.
