Resurrection extended their losing streak to five on Tuesday, dropping them down to 6-15-1. They came up short against the Fenwick Friars, falling 10-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Friars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-0 back in April.
Resurrection saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Taylor Lawriw, who went 1-for-2 with one double. Emily Cook also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
As for Fenwick, they moved to 13-9 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by seven runs or more this season.
On Fenwick's side, Sofia Kateeb made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over six innings pitched. Kateeb has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-4. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Bella Bigham and Ayanna Bourn did most of the damage at the plate: Bigham went 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Bourn went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those two doubles gave Bourn a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellie Brady, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Looking ahead, Resurrection will head out on the road to face off against Niles North at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bandits' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Vikings have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season. As for Fenwick, they will be playing at home against Taft at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Friars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 9.2 runs per game this season.
