Brush hasn't had much luck against University recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Beetdiggers will head out on the road to square off against the Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Wednesday.
Brush will bounce into Wednesday's matchup after beating Sterling, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Beetdiggers were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Tigers on Saturday. Considering the Beetdiggers have won four contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Keeton Jilek was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and only one walk). Brush is undefeated when Jilek allows two or fewer earned runs, but 3-4 otherwise. Jilek was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Malachi Thiel, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. That hit was his first of the season. Landon Mesch was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.
Meanwhile, University got the win against Fort Morgan on Monday by a conclusive 12-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bulldogs.
Medardo Abrego was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Preston Natividad, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
University always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.
Brush's record is now 7-4. As for University, their record now sits at 10-3.
Brush couldn't quite get it done against University in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 5-0. Can the Beetdiggers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
