The Middlesex Chargers waltzed into their game on Tuesday with three straight wins but they left with four. They came out on top against Charles City by a score of 77-65. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Middlesex's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Malik Dandy led the charge by dropping a double-double on 24 points and 16 rebounds. Dandy hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for four straight games. JaQuan Griffin was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 24 points and nine rebounds.
Middlesex is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. As for Charles City, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Middlesex will take on the Pointers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. West Point will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 410th, while the Chargers are ranked 198th). As for Charles City, they and the Cavaliers will face off at 7:45 p.m. on February 1st without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. King William knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matchups -- so hopefully the Panthers likes a good challenge.
