Softball Game Preview: Gulfport Admirals vs. St. Patrick Fighting Irish

Gulfport is a perfect 3-0 against St. Patrick since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Admirals will be playing in front of their home fans against the Fighting Irish at 6:30 p.m.

D'Iberville hit Gulfport with a five-run fifth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Admirals came up short against the Warriors, falling 11-3. The loss continues a trend for the Admirals in their meetings with the Warriors: they've now lost six in a row.

Meanwhile, while St. Patrick put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Our Lady Academy. The Fighting Irish were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over the Crescents. The result was nothing new for the Fighting Irish, who have now won ten games by seven runs or more so far this season.

St. Patrick got a massive performance out of Addysen Peyret, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with four stolen bases and four runs. Those four stolen bases gave Peyret a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Bentleigh Osburn, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases and three runs.

St. Patrick always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Our Lady Academy only posted an OBP of .214.

St. Patrick has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Gulfport, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-8.

Gulfport beat St. Patrick 9-6 in their previous meeting back in February. Do the Admirals have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Fighting Irish turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
