Carver scored a shocking upset when it eliminated Smiths Station, 41-7. At the time, the Panthers were ranked fifth in the state, while the Wolverines were 26th.
Carver was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after besting Smiths Station. Billy Gresham's team came in at 18 in the state poll after placing at number 26 last week.
Mike Mckenny threw for 188 yards and 3 touchdowns. He was 18-22 with 1 interception.
Mckenny put up the best numbers in passing as the Wolverines topped Mark Rose's team. Mckenny's favorite target this week was Charles Standberry, who caught 6 passes for 52 yards.
Carver's Mckenny and Landy Capetillo led 6A Region 3 in both passing and receiving yards. 5-10 quarterback Mckenny has thrown for 1,231 yards this season, while Capetillo has 26 catches for 500 yards. The Panthers' Devante Marshall leads the league in rushing yards with 904.
The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between Opelika and Auburn. The Bulldogs enters the game ranked 15th in the state, while the Tigers ranks 17th.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when Auburn takes on Opelika. Tim Carter's team's offense has scored 285 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while Brian Blackmon's team has allowed only 95 on the year.
Smiths Station's Marshall is a mere 96 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season. In 129 carries Marshall has accumulated 904 yard this year.
The Tigers extended the longest winning streak in 6A Region 3 this week by beating Lee, 35-14. The win marks fifth in a row for the Auburn.
