For the second straight game, West Jordan will face off against Kearns. The Jaguars will host the Cougars at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (West Jordan has five straight victories, Kearns has 19 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
West Jordan had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 13-run drubbing they dealt Kearns on Tuesday. The Jaguars put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 15-2 win. Considering the Jaguars have won 11 matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
West Jordan got a great performance from Austin Gehman as he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off nine hits.
At the plate, Brock Litchfield was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Brendan Wood, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
West Jordan hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in five consecutive contests.
West Jordan pushed their record up to 17-3 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Kearns, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-18.
Kearns' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: West Jordan has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.6 hits per game. It's a different story for Kearns, though, as they've been averaging 12.7 hits. Given West Jordan's sizable advantage in that area, the Cougars will need to find a way to close that gap.
