The Cistercian Hawks were the 45-28 winner over the Houston Christian Mustangs when they last played one another back in October of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Cistercian took a serious blow against Houston Christian on Friday, falling 31-3. Cistercian was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 21-0.
Nick Schieferdecker threw for 124 yards on nine of 16 attempts. Grant Nevitt was his top target, picking up 43 receiving yards and no touchdowns.
Among those leading the charge was Ewan Smith, who rushed for 99 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries. Jack Henning did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 95 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Cistercian's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Houston Christian, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-2.
Cistercian will be playing in front of their home fans against Greenhill at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Greenhill is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Houston Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Oakridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Oakridge has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since August 25th.
