The Wesson Cobras scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They pulled ahead with a 63-62 photo finish over Hazlehurst. The victory was just what Wesson needed coming off of a 66-37 loss in their prior contest.
Wesson's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Zevantae Stapleton led the charge by scoring 18 points along with six rebounds. That's the first time this season that Stapleton scored 15 or more points. Brynn Brice was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with four steals.
Wesson is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 3-8 record this season. As for Hazlehurst, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wesson will be home for the holidays to greet Amite County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Amite County is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. Hazlehurst will be home for the holidays to greet Jefferson County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
