Two dominant guards in Shamir Taylor and Darian Canty are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. St. Charles will head out on the road to take on the Westlake Wolverines at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as St. Charles comes in on 12 and Westlake on five.
St. Charles scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Patuxent 93-36 at home. St. Charles has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 22 points or more this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead St. Charles to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jaden Bazil, who scored 18 points. It was the first time this season that Bazil scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tajir Webster, who scored 15 points.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Westlake beat La Plata 46-42 on Friday.
Canty continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. Darius Kemper was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
St. Charles has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. As for Westlake, they now have a winning record of 10-9.
Everything came up roses for St. Charles against Westlake in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 71-36 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for St. Charles since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
