The Athens Wildcats scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Wyalusing Valley as Athens made off with a 76-55 victory. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Athens got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Connor Mosher out in front who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 15 rebounds. Mosher hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Jacob, who went 6 for 11 from beyond the arc en route to 20 points and 2 assists.
Athens pushed their record up to 12-6 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.8 points per game. As for Wyalusing Valley, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-13.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Athens will square off against the Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Troy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 11 matches -- so hopefully the Wildcats likes a good challenge. As for Wyalusing Valley, they will head out on the road to challenge the Black Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Towanda is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.
