On Saturday, the Ponchatoula Green Wave faced the Newman Greenies in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Ponchatoula fell 68-56 to Newman. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Newman's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Randy Livingston jr, who scored 18 points along with six assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Livingston jr has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Todd Jones, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Ponchatoula's loss dropped their record down to 16-4. As for Newman, the victory got them back to even at 10-10.
Ponchatoula will look to defend their home court on Monday against Salmen at 7:00 p.m. Salmen is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses. As for Newman, they will head out on the road to challenge Crescent City Christian at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
