The Wilson Eagles will head out to square off against the Prue Rockets at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
On Monday, Wilson got the win against Bray-Doyle by a conclusive 16-7. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Donkeys recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.
Cooper Burkhart was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.
In other batting news, Josh Gage was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and four runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Gibson, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Wilson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Prue never let their opponents score last Monday. They blew past South Coffeyville 10-0.
Like Wilson, Prue also got a great game from a two-way player: Lane Traster. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Traster was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on July Thompson, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and four RBI. Josh Puma was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Prue now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Wilson, their record is now 7-2.
Everything went Wilson's way against Prue in their previous matchup on March 12th, as Wilson made off with a 20-7 victory. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rockets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
