The South Windsor Bobcats will be playing at home against the Southington Blue Knights at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
South Windsor lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the loss they were handed on on Monday was a bit more commanding. Their rough 42-18 loss to Conard might stick with them for a while. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points South Windsor has scored all season.
Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 20-20 at halftime, Southington was not quite Berlin's equal in the second half on Monday. Southington took a 47-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of Berlin. Southington has struggled against Berlin recently, as their game on Monday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Lily Cooper put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored 18 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 11 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Katie Doherty, who scored nine points.
Even though they lost, Southington smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Berlin only pulled down four offensive rebounds.
South Windsor's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-7. As for Southington, they now have a losing record at 6-7.
South Windsor came up short against Southington when the teams last played back in December of 2021, falling 54-46. Thankfully for South Windsor, Gabby Dangelo (who scored 13 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
