Rancho Cucamonga hasn't had much luck against Etiwanda recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Cougars will welcome the Eagles at 3:15 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Rancho Cucamonga took a seven-run loss the last time they faced off against Los Osos, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Cougars skirted past the Grizzlies 2-1.
Rancho Cucamonga saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lizzy Brown, who went 1-for-3 with one run.
Meanwhile, Etiwanda entered their tilt with Chino Hills on Tuesday with 15 consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 16. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Huskies, sneaking past 11-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Eagles have posted since March 13th.
Dailynn Battee was a standout: she fired off two home runs, three runs, and one stolen base while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in February. Karrington Bennett was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs.
Etiwanda kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in 16 consecutive matchups.
Rancho Cucamonga's victory bumped their record up to 9-12. As for Etiwanda, their win bumped their record up to 18-1.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Rancho Cucamonga hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .341. However, it's not like Etiwanda struggles in that department as they've averaged .424. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Rancho Cucamonga might still be hurting after the 11-2 defeat they got from Etiwanda in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
