Having struggled with seven losses in a row, Walther Christian Academy turned things around against Intrinsic on Thursday. They were the clear victors by an 18-2 margin over the Mustangs. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Broncos considering their two-run performance the match before.
Isabella Ziupsnys was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. Ziupsnys was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Selah Argueta, who fired off two home runs, four runs, and four RBI while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. Leslie Anguiano was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
Walther Christian Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .652. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Northtown was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 20-2 to Von Steuben.
Walther Christian Academy picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 3-7. As for Northtown, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.
Everything went Walther Christian Academy's way against Northtown when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Walther Christian Academy made off with a 19-2 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Broncos since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
