The Trinity Bulldogs will challenge the Morehead Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Trinity will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
Trinity is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Providence Grove 15-2 on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won five contests by eight runs or more so far this season.
While Morehead didn't have the best season last year (they finished 12-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 win over Walkertown on Tuesday. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Wolfpack recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Ben Wade and Zachary Grogan were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Wade pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Grogan struck out six batters over 5.2 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off only two hits. Wade has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. At bat, Wade went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Grogan went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases. Wade is becoming a predictor of Morehead's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-4 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jacob Sands, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Judson Friese was another key player, earning one RBI, one run, and one stolen base.
Trinity's win bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Morehead, their victory bumped their record up to 6-4.
Everything went Trinity's way against Morehead when the teams last played back in March of 2025, as Trinity made off with a 17-6 win. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
