Softball Recap: Discovery Canyon Extends Winning Streak to Three

Discovery Canyon came out on top against Rock Canyon on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run seventh inning. The Thunder put the hurt on the Jaguars with a sharp 11-0 win. The Thunder not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since October 9, 2024 (when they won 14-2).

Bella Holcomb made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in October of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two doubles.

In other batting news, Tylee Creps was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Ryan McCann also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Discovery Canyon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rock Canyon only posted a batting average of .125.

The victory (which was Discovery Canyon's third in a row) raised their record to 3-4. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Rock Canyon, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Discovery Canyon will face off against Palmer Ridge at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Thunder's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bears have averaged an impressive 10.5 runs per game this season. As for Rock Canyon, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Cherry Creek at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Jaguars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bruins have averaged an impressive 9.5 runs per game this season.
