Two dominant backs in Dorrion White and Devonte Lyons are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Escambia Gators will head out on the road to face off against the St. Augustine Yellow Jackets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Escambia sitting on three straight wins and St. Augustine on 12 (dating back to last season).
With a playoff game on the line, Escambia rose to the challenge on Friday. They walked away with a 15-7 victory over Pine Forest.
It was another big night for White, who rushed for 153 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, St. Augustine can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent game on Friday. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 52-14 victory over Middleburg. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 45-0.
Their wins bumped Escambia to 8-3 and St. Augustine to 10-0.
Escambia suffered a grim 48-27 defeat to St. Augustine in their previous meeting back in November of 2020. Can Escambia avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
