Softball Recap: South Laurel Wins Going Away Against Williamsburg

While South Laurel put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Williamsburg. The Cardinals put the hurt on the Yellow Jackets with a sharp 16-0 victory. The Cardinals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by ten runs or more this season.

Audrey Likins made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run.

In other batting news, South Laurel let Kenzie Williams and Bailey Frazier run wild. Williams scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2, while Frazier scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. That's the most runs Williams has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Baker, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.

South Laurel is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games. As for Williamsburg, their loss was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 0-10.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. South Laurel is set to take on their familiar foe Whitley County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Williamsburg will square off against rival Corbin at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
