The Roxana Shells will head out on the road to take on the Staunton Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
Roxana can't be to happy about their upcoming road matchup considering what happened when they opened their season on the away from home on Wednesday. They fell just short of Gibault Catholic by a score of 16-14.
Roxana got a good showing from Jenny Brown, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits.

On the hitting side, Ava Cherry stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Madison John, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Even though they lost, Roxana kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. They got six more hits than Gibault Catholic's also-impressive total of 11.
Meanwhile, on Saturday Staunton's undefeated season almost came to an end. They never let Lincolnwood get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory.
The result came thanks to Ele Feldmann's shutout, as she gave up just four hits and racked up seven Ks. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single earned run, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024.
At the plate, Staunton's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Grace Burris, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base. Sam Anderson also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Roxana couldn't quite finish off Staunton in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 and fell 4-2. Can Roxana avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
