Rouse and Leander are an even 5-5 against one another since November of 2015, but not for long. The Rouse Raiders will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Leander Lions at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Rouse's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five matches.
Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up eight more assists than your opponent, a fact Rouse proved on Friday. They came out on top against Cedar Park by a score of 67-54. Given Rouse's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 27th, while Cedar Park is ranked 269th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Rouse to victory, but perhaps none more so than Amarie Haywood, who scored 23 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks. Devin Brown was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Leander, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 54-40 loss to Cedar Park on Tuesday.
Rouse's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-7. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.8 points per game. As for Leander, their loss dropped their record down to 11-9.
Rouse was able to grind out a solid victory over Leander in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, winning 61-50. Will Rouse repeat their success, or does Leander have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
