Baseball Recap: Boylan Catholic Victorious

Boylan Catholic posted their closest victory since March 18th on Monday. They had just enough and edged out the Marian Central Catholic Hurricanes 5-3. The Titans haven't had any issues with the Hurricanes recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Owen Scandroli looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. He is becoming a predictor of Boylan Catholic's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 2-1 (and 2-5 when he doesn't).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Anthony Scalise, who scored two runs while going 1-for-1. Another player making a difference was Ethan Mott, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Boylan Catholic's record is now 4-6. As for Marian Central Catholic, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Boylan Catholic will head out to take on Johnsburg at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Marian Central Catholic, they will venture away from home to face off against Grayslake Central at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Grayslake Central will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Marian Central Catholic surely won't give up without a fight.
