The St. John's Catholic Prep Vikings on the road again on Thursday and play against the Indian Creek Eagles at 2:00 p.m. on January 25th. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
St. John's Catholic Prep suffered their biggest loss since December 10, 2023 on Wednesday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 72-51 walloping at the hands of Severn School. While losing is never fun, St. John's Catholic Prep can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 136th, while Severn School is ranked 24th).
Meanwhile, Indian Creek's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. Their rough 61-36 defeat to St. Paul's might stick with them for a while. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Indian Creek in their matchups with St. Paul's: they've now lost eight in a row.
Despite their loss, Indian Creek saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Kyle Harvin, who scored 13 points, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Sefton Robinson, who scored nine points.
St. John's Catholic Prep has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season. As for Indian Creek, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-9.
St. John's Catholic Prep didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Indian Creek in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 59-53 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for St. John's Catholic Prep since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
