The Perkins Pirates will venture away from home to take on the Clay Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Perkins is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
Perkins can't be too worried about heading out to take on Clay: they just beat Edison at home, who had been dominant on their own field up to that point. The Pirates walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Chargers on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Pirates.

Braxden Martin was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Perkins let Dylan Crabtree and Blake Parker run wild. Crabtree got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run, while Parker got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Parker has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
Meanwhile, Clay gave up the first runs on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against Perrysburg by a score of 7-2.
Like Perkins, Clay also got a great game from a two-way player: Bryce Besgrove. On the mound, he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Besgrove was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
In other pitching news, George Edwards looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Brannan Vargas, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one triple. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.
Perkins' record now sits at 16-7. As for Clay, their record is now 13-8.
