North Johnston and Goldsboro are an even 3-3 against one another since January of 2022, but not for long. The North Johnston Panthers will head out on the road to take on the Goldsboro Cougars at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. North Johnston will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 230th, while Goldsboro is ranked 41st).
Last Friday, things could have been worse for North Johnston, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 57-41 loss to Beddingfield.
Meanwhile, Goldsboro put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Princeton 60-18 on the road. Goldsboro has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 24 points or more this season.
North Johnston's loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-2. As for Goldsboro, they pushed their record up to 14-0 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road.
North Johnston came up short against Goldsboro in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 32-27. Can North Johnston avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
