The Greenland Pirates''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They were beaten by Hackett 45-8. Greenland was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 24-0.
Leading Hackett to victory were Cole Ketchum and Jeremy Lawyer. Ketchum rushed for 95 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries, while Lawyer rushed for 153 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.6 yards per carry. Ketchum was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 58 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Wyatt Hester, who picked up 90 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Greenland's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 1-8. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Hackett, Lavaca, and Mansfield. As for Hackett, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.
Greenland will head out on the road to face off against West Fork at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arkansas (West Fork is ranked 156th, while Greenland is ranked 163rd). As for Hackett, they will be playing at home against Mansfield at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mansfield is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
