Baseball Recap: Macarthur Makes It Five in a Row at Home

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but MacArthur ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They skirted past the Jay Mustangs 9-8. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 7-6 back in March.

Aaron Villallobos was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sebastian Laboy-Rodriguez, who got on base in four of his six plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of MacArthur's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 8-15-1 when he doesn't). Christian Castillo was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
