First Baptist's recent rough patch got a bit rougher last Thursday after their seventh straight loss. They were beaten by South Texas Christian Academy 69-39. First Baptist was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-15.
Meanwhile, Macedonian Christian waltzed into their contest on Friday with three straight wins but they left with four. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Harvest Christian and snuck past 47-44. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Macedonian Christian has posted yet this season.
It was another big night for Christian Landon, who scored 20 points. He hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Gonzalez, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
First Baptist's defeat was their fifth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 0-1. As for Macedonian Christian, their win bumped their record up to 22-2.
First Baptist took a serious blow against Macedonian Christian in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, falling 76-29. Can First Baptist avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
