The Bell Griffins lost against the Cardozo Clerks back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Bell was beaten by Cardozo 83-39. While losing is never fun, Bell can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' District of Columbia basketball rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while Cardozo is ranked fifth).
Bell's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Syrus Edwards, who scored 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Locke Randall, who scored nine points.
Bell's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Cardozo, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-1.
Bell will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Ron Brown at 6:30 p.m. Ron Brown is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. Cardozo is on the road again on Wednesday and play against Bard at 7:00 p.m. on January 10th. Bard has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
